Obituary

We are saddened to announce the passing of Gregory James Petrone on November 6th, 2024 after a short but valiant battle with cancer. He passed peacefully at home in his sleep at the age of 76.

Greg was an active person who could learn any sport by watching, and then be better than half the people playing. Though his favorite was baseball, you could catch him playing golf, softball, bowling, football, fishing, and any other game with a ball. Like his father before him, his favorite team was the New York Mets.

Greg was an accomplished electrician, and his business GP Electric took care of Millbrook for over 40 years. Before that, he ran lights for the Andy Gootch Band with his brothers. His daughter took up the mantle of musician, and he was a pillar of support for her, even signing himself out of hospice for a week to drive cross country together after the end of a contract. Greg was the type of person to provide support to anyone, and loved his family more than anything in the world. Except maybe baseball.

Greg is survived by his daughter Risa and her wife Randi, his brothers Billy and Steve, and sister-in-law Lois, cousins Carol, Joan, and Nancy, nieces Avery, Hannah, Sierra, and Natalie, and their spouses, and his nieces' children, Peyton, William, Marcella, Roemer, Owen, and Vivianne. He is predeceased by his parents, James and Margaret, and his wife, Roberta.

Visiting hours will take place at Allen Funeral Home in Millbrook on Wednesday, November 13th, from 5-8pm. Please come with a story to tell, if you would like. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to Little League Baseball and keep Greg's memory alive through the love of the game: https://www.littleleague.org/who-we-are/making-a-donation/.
