Gregory Andrew Diamond, age 29, passed away on Saturday, December 30, 2017 at his home in Poughkeepsie. He was born on April 28, 1988, in Newburgh, New York, to Lawrence and Andrea (Lapidus) Diamond. On December 29, 2012, Greg married Cassi (Jordan) Diamond at The Manor in West Orange, New Jersey. He graduated from Spackenkill High School in 2006 and was part of their state championship baseball team. He continued his love of playing baseball at Mount St. Mary College where he graduated with his Masters Degree in 2012. He worked as a math teacher in the Wappingers School District and coached both basketball and baseball at Spackenkill High School. He was part of many sectional championships as a coach and a player in both basketball and baseball. Greg had a deep love for sports, especially the New York Yankees, the New York Rangers, and the San Francisco 49ers. Greg also worked as an umpire for the Hudson Valley Umpire Association along with his father and uncle. He also was a long time volunteer at St. Martin De Porres where he coached CYO basketball.
Greg is survived by his beloved wife, Cassi Diamond and their two sons, Jordan and Austin Diamond, his parents, Larry and Andrea Diamond, and his uncle, Chris Diamond, his wife, Gina Diamond, and their two children, Mark and Marissa Diamond. He is also survived by many cousins, his wife's family, and countless friends.
Calling hours will be held on Friday, January 5, 2018 from 4-8 pm at Parmele, Auchmoody & Schoonmaker Funeral Home, 110 Fulton Avenue Poughkeepsie, New York. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered the next day, Saturday, January 6, 2018 at St. Martin De Porres Church, 118 Cedar Valley Rd., Poughkeepsie, New York, at 9:30am.
