Obituary

Glenn C. Brown, 65, a local resident of Poughkeepsie since 2003, previously of Whitehall, NY passed away on January 17, 2024, after a courageous battle with renal cancer. He was surrounded by family and friends.

Glenn was born on April 29, 1958, the son of late Ann and Glen Brown. Glenn graduated from Whitehall High School in 1976. He furthered his education, graduating from New Paltz University in 1980.

Glenn dedicated his life serving and lifting up others. When he lived in Whitehall he taught at Whitehall School District and was a supervisor at Stewart Shop located in his town.

He was employed at the Department of Community and Family Services for 12 years where he worked as Youth Worker and Foster Care Case manager. He was promoted in 2016 to Dutchess County Probation and worked there until he retired in December of 2022

Glenn was a dedicated employee and had an excellent work ethic. He participated in many programs while he was in the county.

Glenn loved to travel, interior decorate and to dance. He especially enjoyed spending quality time with his loving family and his dear friends. Glenn was the life of the party.

Glenn is survived by his partner and best friend of 47 years, Michael Thompson who resides in Poughkeepsie. He is also survived by his brother Larry Brown and his wife Iris of S. Glens Falls, NY, his devoted sister Marilyn Basque and her husband Alan of Whitehall, NY. He is preceded in death by his sister Bonnie Basque.

Glenn is also survived by several nieces and nephews, great nieces, great nephews, cousins, and other extended family members. Glenn was loved by everyone.

Glenn's family would like to express their gratitude for the kind, generous and loving care he received from the nursing staff at Vassar Brother's Hospital.

A celebration of Glenn's life will take place Saturday January 27, 2024, from 11am to 1pm at Parmele, Auchmoody & Schoonmaker Funeral Home, 110 Fulton Ave., Poughkeepsie, NY 12603. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, 1275 York Ave., New York, NY 10065 in Glenn's name.
