Gladys T. Horne of Salt Point, NY entered into rest on January 13, 2023 at the age of 93 at home after a lengthy decline. Gladys was born in Brooklyn, NY to the late Albert Terjesen and Tonny Christiansen Terjesen on April 26, 1929. Her parents emigrated here from Norway. She graduated from Katonah High School in Katonah, NY in 1947.

On February 28, 1948 she married William D. Horne who predeceased her on November 26, 2006 after 58 years of marriage.
Gladys worked as a secretary in NYC after graduation from high school, after her children were older she worked as a secretary at New York Telephone then finished her career at Cornell Cooperative Extension in Millbrook, NY for 22 years retiring in April of 1991.  She worked in the 4H office and spent many summer days at the Dutchess County fair doing the behind the scenes work to help get the exhibits ready for all to enjoy.
Gladys was a faithful member of Westminster Presbyterian Church of Salt Point for 49 years. She wrote many fundraiser letters to request help in rebuilding her church after the arson fire in February of 1983. She was a member of Session and the Board of Deacons serving for many years alongside her husband. Up to 2 years before her death, she worked on dinners, rummage sales and other events going on in church. She was affectionately known as the "jam lady" for all the jars of fresh homemade jam of many flavors that she made over the years. At church rummage sales, Gladys always manned the boutique area with merchandise that was extra special. She always enjoyed rearranging the items and speaking with all the customers encouraging them to buy that unusual item for their homes. She was also known as the "Boutique Lady" to many repeat customers.
Gladys loved flowers and gardening. She made many flower pictures to sell for her church over the years. She grew most of the flowers she used in the pictures. She was very proud of the fact that three out of four of her daughters loved gardening as she did.
Gladys is survived by her three daughters: Wendy and her husband Fred Wohlfarhrt of Port Charlotte, Florida; Diana Ritchie of Pleasant Valley, NY; Bonnie and her husband Mark MacBrien of Waterbury, Vermont; her grandson Patrick Vishnesky and his fiance  Svet Raboy of Poughkeepsie, NY; her great granddaughter Zoey Vishnesky; and many nieces and nephews.
Gladys was also predeceased by daughter Jessica Quinn, granddaughter Melissa Ritchie, sister Emily Terjesen Nash, brother Albert Terjesen and foster parents Jessie and Owen Johnson.
We would like to thank Celine (CC) and Alice, her faithful and loving aides for many years, who helped to make her final years happy and in her own home. We would like to thank the many caring people at Hospice who helped our Mom to enjoy her last year with excellent care, especially Loren and Jenn, and activities which included volunteer Pat, who did Bible studies and crosswords with her each week, and all the special music therapists who came to play the guitar and sing each week.

We would like to thank the many faithful and loving friends at Westminster Presbyterian Church who helped Diana care for her Mom and gave Diana some time off to do things she enjoyed.
Cremation has taken place at Gladys' request. Visitation with the family will be held at the Westminster Presbyterian Church, 1872 Salt Point Turnpike in Salt Point, NY, on Saturday May 6 from 9:30AM-11AM followed by a memorial service at 11AM officiated by Pastor Laurie Spencer and Reverend Ted Miller. Interment will follow immediately after in the Salt Point Cemetery behind the church.
