Obituary

Germaine (Charmeine) Josephine Tebbens (nee Friess), age 90, passed away peacefully on Friday February 10, 2023. She went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Germaine was born in Manhattan, New York on April 8th, 1932, to Victor and Celestine (Raugel) Friess of Dachstein, France. She grew up with her family in Alsace, France and attended schools in Molsheim, France and NYC. She spoke and understood Alsatian and French. Germaine was the daughter of a WWII Navy Veteran and well-traveled French Chef. She proudly loved telling wonderful stories of her past with her beloved sister Ann Huth. Germaine married Charles Tebbens, a WWII Navy Veteran and NYC Police Officer, with whom she had two children, Mathew Tebbens and Denise Tebbens where she lived in Dutchess County and raised her family. She was passionate about her time working at the Poughkeepsie Savings Bank and teaching English to IBM transferees from Japan. Germaine was an exceedingly strong-willed woman who continuously put others before herself. She loved enchanting people with her many stories about her life and enjoyed the company of her many friends. Her beautiful life will be forever remembered and cherished in the lives of her children: Mathew and Denise; Sister and her Husband, Ann and Paul Huth. Four Grandchildren; Jessica, Rochelle, Audreyanna, and Aliza, as well as her countless friends that she adored over the years. Funeral services will be held Thursday, February 16, 10AM from Allen Funeral Home, 3270 Franklin Ave, Millbrook, NY with graveside services to follow at 1 pm in  Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Hawthorne, NY.
