Obituary

George T. Manelski passed away peacefully at Vassar Brothers Medical Center with his children at his side, after a brief illness. He was born May 30, 1935, in Syosset, NY, the youngest of twelve children born to Robert and Anna Manelski. He attended Locust Grove School and graduated from Hicksville High School. After graduating, he volunteered with the local fire department and worked as a surveyor for the town and as a clerk at the local post office before joining the workforce in the area's burgeoning electronics industry. In the spring of 1962 he applied to IBM. He was hired and embarked on a 51 year career working primarily in the thermal labs at Boardman Road and then the Main Plant on South Road.He married Irene Cunningham on May 30, 1962. They welcomed their daughter in July of the following year and their son the year after that. In the late 70s, the family worked together to realize George's dream of building his own home, which he lived in until his death.A man of many talents, George was always willing to help those in need repairing plumbing, furnaces, cars, etc. He also volunteered at Grace Smith House and Mount Carmel Church. He was an avid collector of old things, particularly antique gas engines and coffee grinders. He also enjoyed the years spent attending car shows in his classic Ford convertible. Feeding and observing the birds in his yard was a lifelong delight for him.

George is survived by his loving wife, Irene, daughter Diane Moser (David) of Merrimack, NH, son Robert Manelski (Deanna) of Sandpoint, ID, grandsons Joshua and Christopher Moser, granddaughters Madison and Jennifer Manelski, great grandson Caleb Moser, three sisters and a brother.
