Genowefa "Jennie" Luzar, 94 years old of Poughkeepsie, NY, passed away on March 2, at home in the arms of her husband, Adam.

Jennie was born in Dabrowa, Poland, on June 26, 1928, to Stanislaw Labudzinski and Honorata Kmiec. She moved to Krakow, where she attended school to pursue her interest in becoming a baker and pastry chef. This led her to work at the Luzar Bakery in Krakow, where she met the love of her life Adam. They married in Poland on July 31st 1966 and soon moved to the United States.

Jennie worked at Vassar College for over 30 years retiring in 2002. She was a member of St. Joseph's Church in Poughkeepsie and an active member in the Polish community.

Besides her husband, she is survived by her son John and his wife Patricia of East Fishkill, NY; her granddaughter Jacqueline; her two surviving siblings: Peter Labudzinski and Janina Lasota; and many beloved nieces and nephews.

Jennie was known for being a devoted Catholic, an amazing cook, and baker. She passed down these skills to her granddaughter.

Visitation will be Sunday, March 5 from 4-7 pm at Parmele, Auchmoody & Schoonmaker Funeral Home, 110 Fulton Ave., Poughkeepsie. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Monday, March 6 at 10:00 am at St. Joseph's Church, 9 Lafayette Pl., Poughkeepsie. Interment will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Poughkeepsie.
