Obituary

Frances M. Plain of Pleasant Valley, NY and formerly of Poughkeepsie, NY passed away peacefully on June 27, 2025 surrounded by her loving family.
Frances was born on October 28,1930 in Poughkeepsie, NY and is one of ten children. She spent her life offering love and kindness to all she encountered and is remembered as a woman of compassion and generosity. She was a Sunday school teacher for multiple local churches and taught bible school to her many grandchildren over the summers. She hosted a variety of fundraising activities, which included fashion shows and auctions, to support organizations such as the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation and the American Cancer Society. Her charitable goodwill extended to families experiencing hardships, financial difficulties and medical crisis.  Frances was a skilled musician, playing guitar and singing in her family band "The Country Wranglers".  She sang on the radio and performed locally, traveling to play for Nursing home residents and Veteran hospitals.

Frances was a warm and devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She opened her home and her heart to all of her family and friends and was always ready with a kind word, a warm meal or a bright bit of song. Frances loved singing country music and was often seen in high fashion wearing glitter and bling. She loved to play cards, crazy bingo and memory games with a table full of family. She was a devout Christian and had deep faith in the lord.

She is survived by her nine children and their spouses, Dawn Decker, Roland Jr. and Ligia Plain, Bonnie and Mickey Starzyk, Melodie Kunkel, Perry and Lynita Plain, Bryan and Ella Plain, Mary Plain and Tom Tiffany, Tracey Plain and Benjamin and Kristin Plain. She is also survived by her long-time companion Dile and her 35 grandchildren, 50 great grandchildren and her 7 great great grandchildren. She is predeceased by her adoring husband Roland Plain Sr., her children Sandra Demelis and Debra Plain, her grandchildren Chandra Plain, Aaron Plain, Madison Plain and Chad Plain and her sons-in-law Charles Demelis Sr., Russ Decker and Paul Kunkel.

We love you Darlin and thank you for being such a wonderful mother and grandmother. We will miss you dearly but know the Country Wranglers are back together again singing in the sky.
