Faith Vasti was on March 3, 1935, to Elizabeth Ruzeck and Peter Farley in Wausaukee, Wisconsin. Faith was raised in Chicago, Illinois where she graduated from Mundelein College with a BA in Psychology and a minor in Education. Here she met her beloved husband Thomas F. Vasti Jr. and the two were married on July 20, 1957. He predeceased her on October 21, 2008 after 51+ years of marriage.
She is survived by her son Peter, wife Bailey and their children Lindsey Moody (husband Teddy), Peter, Emily, Mikayla, James, and great granddaughter Isabella. Her daughter Valerie and partner James. Her son Thomas and daughter-in-law Suzanne (Hammond) and grandchildren Annelise and Matthew. Other survivors are Faith's sister, Kathleen Miller, along with several nieces and nephews who reside in Illinois.
Faith was also predeceased by dear sister Patricia Maietta, brother-in-law Joseph Maietta, beloved daughter-in-law Elizabeth and granddaughter Mary Anna.
Faith loved working with children. She taught in Chicago, Manhattan and the Arlington Central School District in Poughkeepsie, NY. She also served on the Arlington Central School Board, as did her late husband.
Faith was a communicant of St. Stanislaus Kostka in Pleasant Valley, where she taught religious education for many years. In addition, she served on the Parish Council and as a trustee. Her many years of community involvement also included local politics, boy scout den mother and P.T.A.
Faith chaired fundraising events for the Good Counsel Home for unwed mothers and their children which was founded by Chris Bell and located in Poughkeepsie. This was done in memory of her granddaughter, Mary Anna (6/14/94) whose brief life benefited many through the efforts of Good Counsel.
There will be no calling hours, Masses preferred. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at St. Stanislaus Kostka Church on October 31st at 10am. Please visit www.hudsonvalleyfuneralhomes.com for condolences. Arrangements have been entrusted to Allen Funeral Home, Pleasant Valley.
