Ellen Marie Fischer (nee McCaffrey), 75, of LaGrange, New York, passed away peacefully on December 13, 2021 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center, Poughkeepsie, NY.  Ellen was born on December 13, 1946 in Manhattan.  She was the daughter of the late Patrick and Julia (Nolan) McCaffrey.  On December 2, 1967, she married William A. Fischer, who survives at home.  She is survived by her children and their spouses: Ellen Fischer Bopp (Bryan Bopp) of Pleasant Valley, NY; William J. Fischer (Connie Shemo) of Plattsburgh, NY; Patrick F. Fischer (Nabeela Fischer), of Chantilly, VA; and Frank T. Fischer (Michele Fischer) of Devonshire, Bermuda.  She leaves behind twelve beloved grandchildren: Kiernan, Rory, and Meara Fischer; Alexander and Daniel Bopp; Safia, Sammy, Sarah and Sabrina Fischer; and Sydney, Jack and Shannon Fischer. Ellen is also survived by her sister, Rita McCaffrey of Calabasas, California.  Ellen was raised in Parkchester in the Bronx, where she attended St. Helena's Elementary School and St. Helena's High School.  She attended Hunter College in Manhattan, and graduated from Dutchess Community College in Hyde Park, New York.  She worked for many years at Spectrum Behavioral Health in Poughkeepsie, NY as an office administrator.  Ellen had a great love of reading, playing mahjong, and spending time with her husband at their farm in Schoharie County.  The family will have visiting hours at Allen Funeral Home, 1605 Main St., Pleasant Valley, NY from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 16, 2021.  Her life will be celebrated with a Funeral Mass at St. Stanislaus Roman Catholic Church in Pleasant Valley, at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, December 17, 2021.  Her family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made in Ellen's name to Catholic Charities.  May she rest in peace.
