Elizabeth J. (Cassese) Smith,91, of Rhinebeck NY passed away on August 7,2021 at The Pines of Poughkeepsie, NY. "Betty" was born November 19,1929 in Hopewell, NJ to immigrant parents from Hungary. Martin and Mary. She loved school, and was very fond of Art History, and classical music. Later in life she even became an artist of watercolor and oil paintings. Betty and her husband Joseph Cassese of many years, lived in Westchester and Putnam County. In 1976, Betty and Joe moved to Dutchess County, and settled in Clinton Corners. Sadly, her beloved Joseph passed away shortly after. They had 5 children together, Vincent Cassese of Stormville, NY, Martin Cassese and his wife Maryann of Rhinebeck, NY, Mary Cassese and her husband Robert Haskins of Highland, NY, Julia Trojan and her husband Louis, of Pleasant Valley, NY, Theresa Morgan, and her partner Brian DeLuccia of South Carolina. She was the proud grandmother of 9 grandchildren, and several great grans! Betty married William Smith, who predeceased her in 1989. She loved animals, and her flower and vegetable gardens. And was quite an accomplished gardener. Mom will be deeply missed. God Bless her.
