Elizabeth "Beth" Joy Rivers was born in Pawtucket, Rhode Island, on December 10, 1955 to parents Albert and Elinor (Junas) Schaubhut. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran Church. Beth met Kevin Rivers, the love of her life, while they were in college at Concordia College, Bronxville. They were united in holy matrimony on June 30, 1979 at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church (Poughkeepsie, NY) and blessed with 43 wonderful years of married life together. They were true partners and the ultimate example of marriage for their children. Beth was a devout mother to Matthew (Christy) Rivers, Seth (Chrissy) Rivers, Kathryn "Katie" Rivers, Amy (Robert) Paul, a loving grammy to Eleanor, Adelaide, Jacob, Kevin, Patrick, Liam, Molly, Theodore, Isla Joy, and Gwyneth, and "Mom Rivers" to a countless number of people whom she loved fiercely. She is also survived by her sister and brother, nieces and nephews, and other dear family near and far.

God blessed Beth's life with many special people, and she dedicated her life to caring for others. She loved Poughkeepsie, and she spent many years sharing her love of music with children at Columbus and Clinton Schools. She opened her home to anyone who walked through her door. Beth loved fully and deeply, and she was proud to tell anyone and everyone about her husband, children, grandchildren, and adopted family.
Beth loved the Boston Red Sox, walking on the beach in Maine, long phone conversations with her friends and family, holiday decorations, cooking for small armies, pink flowers, and making long lists. She had a feisty sense of humor, a strong soprano voice, and an outstanding memory.

On March 6, 2023, with Kevin by her side, Beth fell asleep in Jesus. She now rests in His arms to await the resurrection of the dead.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be sent to Christ the King Lutheran Church (Pawling, NY) or River Haven Youth Shelter in Poughkeepsie.

The family of Elizabeth Rivers will receive visitors on Friday, March 10, 2023, from 5:00pm to 8:00pm at Parmele, Auchmoody & Schoonmaker Funeral Home, 110 Fulton Avenue in Poughkeepsie, New York. The funeral service will take place at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church, 55 Wilbur Boulevard, Poughkeepsie, New York, on Saturday, March 11, 2023, at 1:00pm. Graveside services at Poughkeepsie Rural Cemetery will commence immediately following the church service.
