Elizabeth H. Gerth, 82, a lifelong resident of Poughkeepsie, died suddenly Wednesday, January 27, 2016 at River Valley Care Center.

Betty is the daughter of Helen and Fred Gerth. She graduated from Arlington High School and worked in retail for many years. She found enjoyment in loving her family, caring for her cat, tending her flowers and working in her yard.

She is survived by her brother Fred W. Gerth Sr. and his wife Arlene, her niece and husband Cheryl and Donald Joyce, niece Sandra Sumner, nephew and wife Fred W. Gerth Jr. and Heidi, and great nephews Christopher, Ryan and Daniel Joyce, David and Kevin Gerth.

Calling hours for Betty will be on Thursday February 4, 2016 from 6-8pm at Parmele Auchmoody & Schoonmaker Funeral Home, 110 Fulton Ave, Poughkeepsie. A Funeral Service will be held on Friday February 5, 2016 at 11am at the funeral home. Interment will follow in Poughkeepsie Rural Cemetery.
