Eleanor Ackermann entered into rest on April 21, 2016 after a short illness.

Eleanor was born in Brooklyn, New York  on January 22, 1925 to Samuel Marzocchi and Rose Primm.  She married John M. Ackermann on January 30, 1949 and shared 58 years together until John's death in 2007.

Eleanor is survived by her children and their spouses, her grandchildren and her great grandchildren; John Ackermann, III and his wife  Barbara and their daughter Heather, Karl Ackermann and his wife Beth and their children Gabriele and Marin, Marie Scott and her husband Robert and children Richard Jr, John and Christopher and her daughter Jean and her children Anita and Danielle, and her great grandchildren, Carlos, Emilio, Michael and Sophia.

Eleanor and John always tried to teach their children the value of kindness, goodness and a belief in something far greater then themselves.  These are lessons that they will always be grateful for.  Eleanor also made a practice of passing along many of the little jokes and stories from the church bulletins or her friends in her nightly phone calls to her children.  She wanted to leave them laughing.  In more recent times, we believe that she was trying to help to help us all say goodbye without so many tears.

Eleanor also has a close relationship with many of cousins; among those are  Dottie Cahill, Carol Goodwin, Jean Sack and Ann Paterno, who will surely miss her, her humor and her heated discussions about politics!

Eleanor was a devout Catholic, and volunteered or many years at St, Mary's Church in Fishkill, New York.  She made a great many friends through her parish who meant the world t her and was of great support and comfort to her since her husband's passing. Among those friends, but surely not all, are all the priests at St. Mary's especially, Fr. Adolf and Rita, Dorothy, Joan and Betty.

Her devotion, friendship and sense of humor will be missed by all.

Friends may call on Monday April 25, 2016 from 2-4 & 7-9pm at Robert H. Auchmoody Funeral Home, 1028 Main Street, Fishkill.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday April 26, 2016 at 10am at St. Mary, Mother of the Church, Fishkill.  Entombment will follow in Fishkill Rural Cemetery.
