Ehrentraud (Trudy) Maria Cerbone (nee Butter) - (January 9th, 1938 – November 25th, 2023)
Trudy Cerbone, 85, of Pleasant Valley, NY lost her battle with cancer on November 25th, 2023.
She was born in Kapfenberg, Austria in 1938. She emigrated to The United States in 1960, and found her home in Bayonne, New Jersey. She raised her children there and was an active volunteer in school and sports organizations, as well as a Girl Scouts troop leader. Trudy studied accounting and culinary arts. One of her favorite things to do was to cook and feed her friends and family. Trudy was an active member of Evangelical Lutheran church in Poughkeepsie.
After Trudy retired, she travelled to many countries across the world. She lived in Del Ray Beach for 19 years and thoroughly embraced the Florida lifestyle. She had a multitude of friends with whom she cooked with and went to countless theatre shows and casinos.
Trudy was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Cerbone, and her brother, Willibald Butter. She is survived by her sister Grethe of Norway, her sister-in-law Elvira Butter, her children; Daughter Ingrid Shortell and Son-in Law Donald Shortell, Son Ronald Drexel and daughter in Law Debra Drexel, Daughter Mona Resma and Son in Law Tony Resma Sr., her grandchildren; Tony and Carina Resma, Eric and Melissa Resma, Tom Shortell and wife Bonnie, Rose Shortell, Julia and James Martell, Skylar Drexel, her great-grandchildren; Alexandra Shortell, Carter Martell, Peyton Martell, Romy Resma, Austin Resma and Regan Resma, and Niece Andrea Butter Hines and her family and Nephew Mario Butter and his family.
Nurturing, generous and loving. Trudy always had a smile and pleasant word for everyone she met. She was loved by many in return.
Services will be Friday, December 1st, from 1 PM – 4 PM at Allen Funeral Home, 1605 Main St. Pleasant Valley. In lieu of flowers, donations to Hudson Valley Hospice (HVhospice.org) would be greatly appreciated. They have been extremely helpful and supportive during this difficult time.
