Edward L. Plog's Obituary
Edward L. Plog , 88, of Hillside Lake, and formerly of Poughkeepsie, passed away peacefully on October 2, 2016. He was born on September 27, 1928, in Poughkeepsie to the late Lawrence T, and Kaite Morse Plog. He graduated from Poughkeepsie High School, and went on to serve his country proudly with the Army during the Korean War. After his time in the service Ed went on to get his Bachelor's Degree from SUNY New Paltz. He enjoy many years of teaching the students at Arlington Central School District, until his retirement in 1988.
Edward was a member of the Triune –Obed Lodge # 782 of the Free and Accepted Masons, and the Independent Order of the Odd Fellows. He was also a member of the Arlington Teachers Association, Arlington Retired Teachers Association, New York State Teachers Association, and of the Retired Association of Dutchess County Retired Teachers. Ed was a parishioner at the Episcopal Church of the Resurrection in Hopewell Junction, a past Vestry Member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church, and a member of the Kagyu Thubten Choling Monastery.
Ed is survived by his nieces; Deborah Tucker, Donna Vitti, and Donna Laycock. A great nephew Adam Vitti, and several great and great- great nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his brother Lawrence T. Plog Jr., nephews Michael Plog, and Craig Duva, a niece Diane Erceg, and a great niece Serena Erceg.
Visitation will begin at 9:30am, on Wednesday, October 5, 2016, at the Robert H. Auchmoody Funeral Home, 900 Route 82, Hopewell Junction. A Funeral Mass will be offered at 11:00 am, at the Episcopal Church of the Resurrection, 182 Route 376, Hopewell Junction, NY. Interment will follow in Poughkeepsie Rural Cemetery.
Donations may be made to Resurrection Church or to Meals- On- Wheels.
