Edward G. Allen, 32, of Millbrook, NY died on December 5, 2015 of injuries sustained in an auto accident.  He is survived by his beloved wife, Emily Egan Allen and their daughters, Codie and Tatum; parents, Laura Donahue Allen and Robert W. Allen; brother, Patrick D. Allen; grandmother, Mary Allen; uncle and aunt, Timothy W. Donahue and Deborah Donahue; aunt, Eileen Donahue; aunt and uncle, Elizabeth A. Lynch and Richard Lynch; and cousins, Brendan, Katie and Tim Donahue and Brendan and Meghan Lynch.  Born September 13, 1983, Ed was raised in Hamden, CT and began his athletic career in the Yale Youth Hockey Association and the Hamden Fathers Baseball League.  He was a graduate of The Taft School and Middlebury College where he majored in economics and was a captain of the football team, as he had been at Taft.  A tremendous scholar-athlete and leader, Ed followed his passions into professional life, first as a coach of football at Wesleyan, then as a math teacher and coach at Millbrook School, and later, its Athletic Director, one of the youngest ever to hold this position at a New England prep school.  Ed will forever be remembered as a selfless educator, dedicated coach, and above all, a devoted and loving father and husband.  A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Friday, December 18, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at the Millbrook School, 131 Millbrook School Road, Millbrook, NY, 12545.  A memorial Mass will be celebrated at St. Rita Church, Hamden, CT on Saturday, January 16, 2016, at 11:00 a.m.  Contributions in Ed's memory may be made to the Coach Ed Allen Scholarship Fund which has been established at the Millbrook School.
