Edna Louise Masters, 100, a former resident of LaGrangeville for 48 years and resident of The Pines at Poughkeepsie, passed away on September 23, 2015. Born in Woodlawn, Bronx, New York on April 19, 1915, she was the youngest daughter of eight of Maximillian and Louisa (Huffeld) Scheller. She was a graduate of The Pace Business Institute. Edna, a longtime member of Our Savior Lutheran Church, Fishkill, was a devout Christian-reading her Bible and devotions daily. She was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who was an avid knitter, having made afghans for each of her children and grandchildren and many baptismal blankets and various ensembles for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She also knitted lap blankets for the veterans of Castle Point. She was an expert at crossword puzzles. She loved the outdoors, creating beautiful gardens and watching the birds and wildlife, saying she felt closest to God there. She was an animal lover, who had many pets over the years and cared for wild animals in distress. She loved the NY Yankees and, being in the right place at the right time, had the honor of wearing a World Series ring for a few moments. She was predeceased by husband Jurgen Jansen Braun. She married Jerry Masters who predeceased her in1993. Her daughter, Barbara E. Braun Scott, predeceased her in 1996; she was also predeceased by her daughter Edna L. Braun Roth in 2013. Edna is survived by her children Carolyn C. Patterson of Florida, Judith A. Michaelis and her husband Robert, Paul J. Braun and wife Suk Yong, Jerry M. Masters and friend Nina Sobell, and Margaret R. Diehl and husband Samuel, all of New York. She is also survived by 16 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren. Many nieces and nephews and their families survive, including her goddaughter Joan G. Siebert and husband Carl of New York. The family would like to thank the staff on the 3rd floor of The Pines at Poughkeepsie for their support and loving care given to Mom (Nana). A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday September 26, 2015 at 2pm at Our Savior Lutheran Church 1400 Route 52, Fishkill with Rev. John Young officiating.
