Dorothy M. Laakso, 89, of Pleasant Valley, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, February 21, 2017 at Vassar brothers Hospital. She was born in Elmont, NY, to the late Andrew and Dora Fischer on February 27, 1927.

She married the late Albert A. Laakso on November 11, 1950 in Elmont, NY.

Dorothy is survived by her daughter, Barbara A. June and her husband Martin of Pleasant Valley, NY, her son, George K. Laakso and his wife Sharon of Burgaw, NC, four grandchildren, Jessica Thompsune and her husband Dan of Herkimer, NY, Elisabeth June of San Diego, CA, Emily June of Pleasant Valley, John Laakso of Liverpool, NY and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her sister and three brothers.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, February 23, 2017 from 7 to 9 pm, Friday, February 24, 2017 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm, at Allen Funeral Home, 1605 Main St., Pleasant Valley, NY 12569. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, February 25, 2017 at 11 am from Allen Funeral Home. Burial will be private.
