Doris Wenning, 82, resident of Lagrangeville since 1974, passed on March 2, 2016 peacefully at Vassar Brothers Hospital with family by her side. Daughter of the late Kaspar & Wilhelmine Bath Rebhan, she was born on March 6, 1933 in the Bronx, raised in Manhattan & Hartsdale. She graduated from White Plains H.S., attended UConn & was a graduate of Berkeley College, being the first in her class to qualify for graduation. She was employed by General Foods Corp. On Oct. 24, 1954, Doris married the love her life, Harry Wenning of Bloomfield, NJ, who had recently been drafted to the U.S. Army. The couple traveled to California, then to Heidelberg, Germany, where she held a position as a secretary for the U.S. Army. Once back in the USA, Harry started his architectural firm where she assisted him. Doris enjoyed boating & sun bathing, was an avid snow & water skier, and had a passion for bridge. She belonged to Coterie. Doris is remembered for being a perfect hostess, entertaining friends & family with elegant yet lively parties throughout her life. Her spirit will be greatly missed by everyone. Doris is survived by her daughter, Michelle Eklund (Ken), sister, Evelyn Smith, grandchildren, Erika, Richard, and Bryan Eklund, and great-grandchildren, Camden & Rylee Algie. She is predeceased by her husband, Harry Wenning and her son, Richard John Wenning. Memorial services will be private.
