Doris May Smith DiBlasi, 80 of Poughkeepsie, passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 19. Born in Scranton, PA on May 28, 1943, Doris was a homemaker who made it her duty to ensure joy, love, and an abundance of laugher were a regular part of her family's daily life. She was a lifelong Catholic and volunteered at Birthright, a local crisis pregnancy center. She was passionate about politics and birds. She enjoyed listening to talk radio all through her adult life and engaging in fervent discussions about current political events with her friends and family. She worked part-time for many years in food services, making lifelong friends along the way. Her best furry pal who seemed born to be hers, was a once-in-a-lifetime Papillon who she loved very much. Once retired, she enjoyed spending her days creating peaceful spaces in her yard where everyone could come and enjoy the birds who visited the feeder she tended to daily.

Her husband of 57 years, Frank DiBlasi, Jr, passed away in 2021. Together they had six children (five surviving), ten grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren: John "Frank," his wife Lisa and their children Lianna and Alexa; Thomas, his wife Marjorie and their children Nicholas, Anthony, Samantha and Victoria; Michael, his wife Debra and their children Angela, Lucas, and Jacob; Nicholas and his daughter Toni Marie; Alice Shaughnessy and husband Jack. She was predeceased by her daughter, Kathryn on June 9, 1988. Great grandchildren are Abigail, Amelia, Asher, Augustus, Bennett, Corra, Colette, Jack, Ronan, Tiago, Wesley, Wyatt. She is survived by her brother Glen.

Funeral services and interment will be private. Arrangements have been entrusted to Parmele, Auchmoody & Schoonmaker Funeral Home, 110 Fulton Ave., Poughkeepsie.
