Dorcas H. Brower, 95, a longtime resident of Pleasant Valley, passed away on Sunday, January 31, 2016 at Lutheran Care Center, Poughkeepsie. Born in Sharon, CT. on October 28, 1920, she was the daughter of James and Margaret Hutchinson Honour.

Dorcas was a rural postal carrier for USPS in Pleasant Valley for 31 years retiring in 1982.

She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Pleasant Valley and a member of Ralph T. Waterman Bird Club. She enjoyed bird watching, gardening, painting, knitting and crocheting.

Dorcas is survived by her 4 children; David Brower of Arizona, Nancy Heriegel and her husband Mert of Florida, Kathleen Blackwell and her husband Rory of Hyde Park and Peter Brower and his wife Gayle of Pleasant Valley; her 7 grandchildren, Jefferey, Christian and Aaron Brower, Sam Heriegel, Christine Solberg, Rory Blackwell Jr. and Raegan Lopez; 12 great grandchildren; her daughter-in-law, Joyce Brower of Pleasant Valley; several nieces and nephews; and her precious little dog Sparky.She was predeceased by her son George Brower in 2007.

Visitation will be Tuesday, February 2 from 6-8 pm at Allen Funeral Home, 1605 Main St., Pleasant Valley. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, February 3 at 10 am from First Presbyterian Church, 1576 Main St., Pleasant Valley, with Rev. Shawn Zanicky presiding.

Interment will follow in Washington Hollow Cemetery, Pleasant Valley. Memorial donations may be made to First Presbyterian Church, Pleasant Valley.
