Donald J. Reed of Poughkeepsie formerly of Amenia passed away peacefully on July 27, 2016 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center.  He was 81.

Born on December 21, 1934 in Sharon, CT to the late Irving and Lillian Reed Duncan.

Donald was a Veteran of the United States Army and worked as a farmer for many years.

He is survived by his children Josephine Powers, Mark Powers and his wife Eugina, Donald Powers and his wife Beverly, Donna Powers, and Dorothy A. Powers.  24 Grand Children and  33 Great Grandchildren .  His brothers Kenneth Reed and William and his wife Sheila Reed.  Donald is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and cousins/

Donald was predeceased by his children Debbie Powers, Alberta Powers and Joseph D. Powers.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday August 3, 2016 from 10-11am at Smith Metropolitan AME Zion Church, 63 Cottage Street, Poughkeepsie.   A Homegoing Service will follow at 11am with the Rev. Dr. H. Dwight Bolton officiating.  Interment will follow in Amenia Island Cemetery, Amenia, New York.
