Donald Vincent Pavelock Sr., 79, entered into rest November 13, 2016 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center with his family by his side. He was born on April 8, 1937 in Beacon, to the late Andrew and Mary (Burke) Pavelock.
After graduating high school Donald went on to join the US Air Force from 1954 to 1956. In 1962 he married Irene (Teed) Pavelock. Mrs Pavelock predeceased Donald in 2006. Don and Irene owned and operated Pappy's Luncheonette in Beacon. Donald was also a bus driver for many years for the Wappinger's Central School District. His love for his community was shown through the many years of dedication to various organizations of which he was a member. He was a life member of the Beacon Engine Fire Company, a life member of the Slater Chemical Fire Company, a life member of the Beacon Elks lodge, a life member of the Beacon American Legion Post #203 and a past member of the Beacon Volunteer Ambulance Corps. He was also a former director of the Beacon Jr. Baseball league, and a past fire commissioner of the Glenham Fire District.
Donald is survived by his two devoted sons; Donald Pavelock Jr. and his wife Angelica , of South Carolina, and Jimmie Pavelock, of Beacon, four loving grandchildren, James Jr., Ashlee, Michael Sr., and Donald "D.J." Pavelock, III, great grandson Michael Pavelock Jr., his brother in law Stephen Teed and wife Alice, brother in law Victor DiGiovanni, and sister in law Margaret "Betty" Ludwig and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
In addition to his wife, Don was predeceased by his sister Mary DiGiovanni, his brother Andrew Pavelock, and a sister in law Marie Pavelock.
Visitation will be Thursday, November 17, 2016 from 4:00 to 8:00 PM, at the Robert H. Auchmoody Funeral Home, 1028 Main Street, Fishkill, New York. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Friday at 10:00 AM from St. Joachim Church, Leonard Street, Beacon, New York. Burial will follow in St. Joachim Cemetery.
