Donald J. Howe, 73 of Pleasant Valley, passed away on Saturday, April 8, 2023 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center after a brief illness. Born in Poughkeepsie on August 15,1949, he was the son of the late John C. and Bertha Quick Howe.
He enjoyed both gardening and watching the New York Mets and the New York Rangers. HIs favorite past time was mowing the lawn on his family home on South Avenue. Once the family home was sold, he moved to a smaller property and promptly planted a garden and took great pride in his property.
Donald is survived by his wife of 55 years, Phylis; his three children, Melinda (husband Jeff), Jody and Mark; his grandchildren, Matthew, Trevor (wife Sam), Caleb, Skylar and Corey, who he very much enjoyed; his two great grandchildren, Archer and Korra; his two sisters, Margaret (husband Lee) and Jeanne and several nieces and nephews.
A visitation will be held on Saturday, April 15 from 11am to 2 pm at Allen Funeral Home, 1605 Main St., Pleasant Valley, N.Y. A memorial luncheon will follow immediately afterwards at the Pleasant Valley Fire Company. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations be made to the Pleasant Valley Fire Department, an organization that meant a lot to Donald as a longtime member. Their address is P.O.
