Daneil Gabbe, passed away peacefully on December 1, 2021 at home, following a lengthy and gallant battle with pancreatic cancer. Dan is remembered as a courageous and dignified gentleman whose life was centered on his devoted wife of 38 years, Nancy Causey Gabbe, his son, Drew Gabbe and wife Rosemary, and his daughter, Lauren Gabbe-Greene and husband Richard, and three grandchildren, twins Alena and Jenna Gabbe (20) and Luka Greene (5). He leaves a brother, James Isaiah Gabbe, and wife, Jill, and their children Benjamin (37) and wife Carmen Maria, and Bridget (34) and husband Sanjay Raveendranath. He is also survived by his former spouse Barbara Gabbe-Harris.

Dan was born on March 14, 1941 in Wilmington, Delaware to Naomi and Milton Gabbe and grew up in Rockville Center and Oceanside, NY, attending local schools. In high school, he was a noted athlete receiving numerous varsity letters and becoming a champion wrestler. He graduated from the University of Miami with a BS in business and served in the Army National Guard as a sergeant in the military police in the 1960s. Dan's early career as a women's clothing buyer for Sears Roebuck and Company lead into a thriving business with his wife Nancy in clothing manufacturing, Causey Inc, a New York-based company , specializing in private label business with major retailers, and eventually other ventures - Mary and the Natives with partner Mary Marino, and then Bodsana, a yoga pant company, with wife Nancy and friend, Allen Friedman.

Dan and Nancy were among the early pioneers in urban loft living in the financial district of Manhattan. After many years of loft living and closing Causey Inc. they moved to Woodstock, then Clinton Corners, NY were Dan pursued his love of buying and selling antiques in his space at the Millbrook Antiques Mall (MAM) in Millbrook, NY. He was known for speciality items including highly collectible and stylish wooden hat forms, and distinctive pocket and hunting knives. Nancy will continue to operate the space at MAM.
