Craig Elder, 59, of Pleasant Valley, passed away on June 30, 2026, at Mid-Hudson Regional Hospital. Born in Cold Spring on June 13, 1967, he was the son of Margaret Miracle and the late Arlie Pete Elder. He was also raised by his beloved stepfather, the late Gerald Miracle.

Craig was a life-long resident of Pleasant Valley and a graduate of Arlington High School in June 1985. As a skilled carpenter, he worked alongside his father and brother in the family businesses, B/D Contracting and later GALS inc. He was part of Carpenters Union 203, and later in his career he became an Operating Engineer with Union 137.

Craig will be remembered as a true craftsman and spent his weekends perfecting home projects in his garage or beautifully landscaping his yard. He was also a gifted musician who could rarely be found without a guitar in his hands or classic rock playing in the background. His lifelong passion for music led to his co-ownership of PJ's Music store. Above all, he cherished time with his family, especially during their annual summer vacations at the beach. He was also a devoted animal lover who provided a loving home to many wonderful pets throughout his life.

Craig is survived by his devoted wife, Alexis; his mother Margaret Miracle; and his children, Robyn Butler (Scott), Allyson Kastner (Michael), and Daniel Elder. He is also survived by his brother Peter Elder (Debbie); his stepbrothers Michael Miracle, Jay Miracle (Phuong); his half-sister Dana Elder; his Aunt Penny Largay; his stepmother Grace Elder; and Julieann Morano, the mother of his children. Craig was also surrounded by nieces, nephews and his beloved six grandchildren (Annabelle 15, Lucas 12, Sean 12, Madison 6, Lincoln 4, and Holland 3 months).  He was predeceased by his wife Courtney Elder, father Arlie Pete Elder, stepfather Gerald Miracle, and Uncle Tony White.

Visitation will be held from 4:00pm to 7:00pm on Thursday, July 9th at Allen Funeral Home, 1605 Main Street, Pleasant Valley, NY, with a short service at 6:00pm. A private burial will take place at a later date.
