Christopher J. Naughton, 77, of Pleasant Valley, passed away peacefully on Thursday, November 10, 2016 at home.
He was born on December 21, 1938 in County Clare, Ireland to the late Martin and Lena Nihilla Naughton. Together in June of 1950 he and his family moved from Ireland to Poughkeepsie. He was a graduate of Our Lady of Lourdes High School. He proudly served as Military Police in the U.S. Army from 1962 to 1964.
On November 8, 1964 he met Winifred Devaney. They were later married on July 8, 1967 at St. Simon Stock Church in the Bronx. He worked as Project manager for IBM in Poughkeepsie for 35 years before his retirement in 1992. Mrs. Naughton survives at home.
Christopher was an active parishioner at St. Stanislaus Church in Pleasant Valley, serving as an Usher on Sundays. He enjoyed his Irish culture and playing Irish music. He was a member of the Galway Blazers Band playing the accordion performing their Irish music. He often preformed their Irish music at the Kevin Barry Irish Club in Fishkill.
Christopher is survived by his loving wife Winifed; sister, Phyllis and her spouse James Nolan. He was predeceased by his siblings; William, Mary, Martin, Kathleen and Ann. He was a beloved brother in law and uncle to the Devaney and Naughton families.
Visitation for Christopher will be held on Monday, November 14, 2016 from 4 to 8 pm at the Allen Funeral Home, 1605 Main St., Pleasant Valley, NY 12569. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, 10 am, from St. Stanislaus Church, 1590 Main St., Pleasant Valley. Burial will follow with Military Honors at St. Peter's Cemetery, in Poughkeepsie.
