Stanfordville

Obituary

It is with great sorrow that Christopher Flynn, 56, of Stanfordville, NY passed away in his home on January 5, 2026. Chris was born in Sharon, CT, on November 30, 1969. A lifelong resident of the area, he was a graduate of Millbrook High School and self-employed at Flynn Plumbing and HVAC. He was a proud member of the Stanford community, especially through his dedicated time on the Town Board, Planning Board, and Zoning Board.
Chris was a hard-working and generous man, who would quite literally give someone the shirt off his back. His heart was made of gold, always the first to show up for a friend in need, and the last to leave. He loved his annual fishing trips to Montauk, weekly golf nights with his friends, telling a good story (typically more than once), listening to classic rock, painfully cheering on the Dallas Cowboys, and enjoying an ice-cold beer with friends and family.
Of all his accomplishments, his greatest were his children, who he loved more than life itself. Whenever you ran into Chris, there was a strong chance you would hear about them, as his world revolved around the four of them. Chris was a dear friend and neighbor to his close knit group of friends. No words can adequately describe what he means to us, but his spirit will live on throughout us all.
He is survived by his children, Ryan, Rachel, Jack, and Maegan; his mother, Dorothy (Dot) Shaffer; his stepmother, Susan Flynn; his sister, Jillian Myers (Joe); and nieces and nephews, Joseph (Samantha), Laken, Cody, and Olivia. He is also survived by his four-legged girls, Maggie and Olive, who rarely left his side. He is predeceased by his brother, Joseph; his father, William Flynn; and his stepfather, Bruce Shaffer.
A time to gather and share your condolences and memories will take place at Allen Funeral Home, 3270 Franklin Ave, Millbrook, on Thursday, January 15 from 4-7pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be to the Animal Farm Foundation https://www.animalfarmfoundation.org/donate/
