Obituary

Charlotte H. Albright, 89, of Pleasant Valley and a lifelong resident of Queens, NY passed away on Tuesday, September 22, 2015 at home. Born in College Point, NY on February 16, 1926, she was the daughter of William and CharlotteKuhn Chapman. Charlotte met the love of her life, Wesley F. Albright, on a blind date. She would tenderly recall how they went bowling, and dined on hot dogs with relish. They were married on April 3, 1948 at Resurrection Church in Flushing, NY. Charlotte and Wes were married for 67 years. They spent the past 63 years, raising their family and celebrating many happy occasions in their beloved College Point home, until recently moving to Pleasant Valley. Both loved swimming and spent a lifetime of summers by the ocean, at Rockaway Point, NY and Mastic Beach, NY. When Charlotte was asked the secret of such a long marriage, she replied simply, "Marry someone you love ". Charlotte was a registered nurse, graduating from Flushing Hospital School of Nursing, Class of 1947. She began her career by working in numerous physicians' offices, followed by geriatric care in nursing home settings and finally as Director of Nursing Services at Bridgeview Nursing Home, NY and Flushing Manor Care Center, NY, retiring in 1977. Charlotte loved spending time with her family and friends, and recounting her fondest memories. She was an avid reader, and, in addition to reading everything from Stephen King to the classics, enjoyed receiving letters from her friends. Charlotte adored animals, and spoke lovingly of the many dogs, cats, and birds she cared for over the years. In addition to her beloved husband Wesley, Charlotte is survived by her children; Edward C. Albright and his wife Doreen of Wallkill, NY, Irene D. Perl and her husband Joseph of Pleasant Valley, NY, and Mae F. Calderon and her husband Fred of Holland Patent, NY; her grandchildren, Michelle Davis of Pleasant Valley, NY, Jason Davis of Staatsburg, NY, Nadine Larson of Whitesboro, NY,Michael Calderon of Holland Patent, NY, Paul Calderon of Holland Patent, NY, Melissa Kostic of Port Jervis, NY, Laurie Nolan of Greenfield Park, NY, Laura Perl of Huntersville, NC, and David Perl of San Diego, CA; and great grandchildren, Kaitlin, Emma, Makenzie, Hunter, Emily and Julian. She was predeceased by her sister, Madeline Windisch. Visitation will be Friday, September 25, from 12 noon - 1pm at Allen Funeral Home, 1605 Main St., Pleasant Valley. Funeral services will follow at 1 pm at the funeral home. Interment will follow in Nine Partners Cemetery, Millbrook. Memorial donations may be made in Charlotte's memory to Dutchess County SPCA or the American Cancer Society.
