Charles F. Lauria, 78, of Clinton Corners, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family.  Born May 10, 1947 in Poughkeepsie, NY, to the late Charles C. and Carmela DeFelice Lauria.  He was a 1965 graduate of Arlington High School and remained active in the AHS Alumni Association, always looking forward to the annual picnic.  He attended Dutchess Community College until he was drafted into the US Army in 1967.  He proudly served in the 1st Battalion 72nd Armor, 2nd Infantry Division at Camp Rose, South Korea during the Vietnam War era, earning the rank of Sergeant.

On February 7, 1970, he married the love of his life, Mary McClellan.  They spent 55 years together building a life of strong family values and unconditional love.  Charlie was the proud "girl dad" of Michele Simonetty and Christina Lauria through whom he instilled fierce independence and a strong work ethic.

Charlie, or to many, Chick/Chickie, was a faithful employee of Central Hudson for 40 years.  He began his career as a garage helper, and when the opportunity arose, trained as an Automotive and Hydraulic Mechanic.  Later in his career, he transferred to Stanfordville and worked until retirement as a Field Clerk/Storekeeper.  He was extremely passionate about his work in IBEW locals 2218 and 320, having the roles of Treasurer and Shop Steward. He worked hard to secure benefits and the rights of workers while on multiple negotiation teams.  Chick was the 2nd Vice President of the Dutchess County Labor Council and was an Assistant Chairman of the Central Hudson Employee Federal Credit Union.  Anyone who knew Chick, knew he had an impeccable work ethic, thus he was honored by Central Hudson yearly for having "no lost time."

In addition to Central Hudson, Charlie was a caretaker for the Ryan Estate for many years where he was treated like family. He took pride in maintaining acres of beautiful property.

Charlie was not a man of many hobbies because his free time was usually spent helping others or cheering on his daughters and eventually grandchildren.  It was not uncommon to see Charlie in the stands, wearing school gear, cheering on that season's sport. Charlie enjoyed long car rides, "never taking the same route twice," cooking, camping, wine-tasting, and spending time at the lake.  He had a knack for creating gadgets to help him with chores, much like MacGyver.

Charlie is survived by his wife Mary, daughter and son-in-law Michele and Michael Simonetty, daughter and son-in-law Christina Lauria and Scott Tucker, and beloved grandchildren: Samantha and Jesse Simonetty, Kieran and Shane Cranna, as well as bonus grandchildren: Michael and Kaitlyn Tucker, Paige Arent, and Maggie Greene.  Charlie is also survived by his chosen family: Selena Long, and Jody, Craig, and Isabella Miller, multiple cousins, nieces and nephews, and friends.

The week of Charlie's diagnosis, he was selected to be a participant in the next Hudson Valley Honor Flight.  He declined the offer because of his health status, please consider making a donation in his memory to the following:   Hudson Valley Honor Flight P.O.
