CATHERINE M. KELLY
HYDE PARK - Catherine M. Kelly (Kay), 95, formerly of Pleasant Valley, passed away this past Tuesday morning. She was happy making breakfast when the sad event happened. Catherine was born 17 November 1926 in Poughkeepsie, NY where she lived with her parents, Charles and Catherine Plog, and brother on South Avenue in the City of Poughkeepsie. Catherine was looking to go into nursing but would eventually find herself working at Dutchess Bank in Poughkeepsie and stayed employed there till her retirement. On the 5 th of September 1948, Catherine married her husband and they proceeded to have 59 years of life together. She will be forever remembered for her enormous spark of life energy. She always was on the move, wanting to do, see and enjoy life to its fullest. The family will always have wonderful memories of her love of family, travel, flowers, pearls, jellybeans and dancing. Catherine was also involved with the Tuesday Girls and Home Bureau. Having family gatherings was very much an important part of her life and being able to see/hold her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her brother, Charles Plog and her husband, Sebastian S. Kelly. Catherine is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Charles and Diane Kelly of West Leyden; her daughter, Sandra Bollinger of Hyde Park; her daughter and son-in-law, Melinda and Donald Swartz of West Dover, VT; and her daughter and son-in-law, Catherine and Robert Turner of Hyde Park; 13 Grandchildren and 14 Great-grandchildren; as well as Louis Snell, a long-time companion; and a small number of nieces, nephews and very close friends.
Funeral Services will be PRIVATE, close/immediate family Only - Due to current Covid-19 conditions.
Her children plan to have a Celebration of Life party in spring when current events are hopefully calmer. Family and friends will be invited to attend when this event is scheduled. At present, in place of flowers, her children ask donations to be made instead: St. Jude, Samaritan's Purse, or your local Red Cross.
