Catherine Marie Kalmes, 53 of LaGrangeville, passed away suddenly on Sunday, April 9th, 2017 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center. Born in the Inwood section of New York City on March 27, 1964, she was the daughter of the late Robert and Mary (nee White) O'Connor. Catherine graduated from Dobbs Ferry High School and attended Mercy College. Cathy, as she was known to friends and family, was employed by Northern Medical Group for many years. On August 1, 1987, Cathy married the love of her life, Peter Kalmes at Christ the King Church in Yonkers, NY. Together they had three children, Megan, Emily and Peter. Cathy dedicated her life to her children, husband and extended family. Her devotion to her family, and her passion for life inspired many. Her laughter was infectious. Cathy had a lifelong love of the beach, palm trees and all things tropical, the beach was her happy place. She cherished spending time with her family at her second home in Pawleys Island in South Carolina. Cathy is survived by her Brother-in-Law Raymond McEntee, her brother, Tommy O'Connor and his wife, Peggy O'Connor, her brother Robert O'Connor and his wife Sheri O'Connor, her brother Joseph O'Connor and Brother-in-Law Randy Petit, her Mother and Father–in–Law, Peter and Nancy Kalmes, her Brother-in-Law Robert Kalmes and his wife Tonya Kalmes, her Brother-in-Law Greg Kalmes and his wife Jennifer Kalmes, nieces, Tricia McEntee, Shannon O'Connor, Bronwen Kalmes, Al ison Kalmes and Madison Kalmes, nephews, Michael McEntee and Cian Kalmes as well as many cherished Aunts, Uncles, cousins and friends. Cathy has joined her Mother and Father, and her beloved sister Barbara McEntee in Heaven, and is watching over, and praying for us all.
Visitation will be held on Monday, April 17 from 2-4 PM and 7-9 PM, Tuesday, April 18 from 2-4 PM and 7-9 PM at Robert H. Auchmoody Funeral Home, 900 Route 82, Hopewell Junction. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Wednesday, April 19 at 10 AM from St. Kateri Tekakwitha Church, 1925 Route 82, LaGrangeville, NY. Interment will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Valhalla, NY
