Carmella Katherine Quattrociocchi passed away on April 29, 2023 peacefully at home in Pleasant Valley with her family around her.  She was born on September 18, 1928 to Maria Donato Pascale and Leonardo Fanelli in Yonkers, NY. She lived there until her family moved to the Hudson Valley where they owned and operated a dairy farm. Carmella attended Arlington Schools where she was very active in sports & cheerleading and received honors for her academics.

On October 25, 1953, Carmella married Frank C. Quattrociocchi at St. Stanislaus Church in Pleasant Valley, NY. Carmella continued to operate the family farm after her mother's passing in the 60's.  She had a deep love of all animals and farm life, had a strong work ethic and devoted her life to farming. Because of Carmella's hard work and devotion, she created a legacy which is Quattro's Farm and Store.
Carmella's life revolved around the farm and her family.   She found joy in cooking for her family and anyone who came into her home. She was a very generous person, donating to various charities and those in need. Eventually her two sons converted the farm to a poultry and game bird establishment. They specialized in Pheasants, Ducks, Geese, Chukars and a variety of turkeys. The farm still supplies several farmers' markets, NYC restaurants and local restaurants.  It is still one of the few successful poultry farms in the Hudson Valley that breed, raise and process poultry and game.Carmella was not only a career farmer, she was also a successful businesswoman.  She and her husband Frank established Quattro's Farm Store in the 70's which housed a local butcher shop and Italian groceries. The store is still in business today.

Carmella is survived by her daughter Dr. Marie Quattro (Larry) Potenza, Salvatore (Joyce) Quattrociocchi, her 3 granddaughters, Angela Potenza, Maria Quattrociocchi and Catherine Quattrociocchi and many nieces and nephews. Carmella was predeceased by her husband, Frank C. Quattrociocchi, son, Frank L. Quattrociocchi, her seven brothers, Mauro Fanelli, Frank Fanelli, Joseph Fanelli, Charles  Fanelli, Daniel Fanelli, Salvatore Fanelli, Louis Fanelli and her sister Angela (Fanelli) McGough.
Carmella had a very full and memorable 94 years but will still be missed deeply by her family, friends and the community.

Calling Hours will be at held at Allen Funeral Home, 1605 Main St., Pleasant Valley on Wednesday, May 3, 2023 from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Thursday, May 4 at 10 am from St. Stanislaus Church, 1590 Main St., Pleasant Valley. Interment will follow in St. Peter's Cemetery, Poughkeepsie.

FROM HER GRANDDAUGHTERS

Angela :    My grandma was a hard worker with strong bones and rough hands. She carried a feed bag on her back. She could keep up with the boys and shoot a gun. She would jump off the back of her truck and carry me over her shoulder. She was quick-witted and had a potty mouth. She would make you dinner, make you laugh and make you forget about your problems. Anyone who met her adored her. I love you grandma, love Ange.

Maria :    Sitting on your lap, sipping coffee from a spoon. Homemade tomato sauce that we've never quite been able to recreate. Hard boiled eggs for the          baby turkeys. Telling me to 'check my oil' and asking me 'when I'm coming home'. The strange smells and strange people that came in and out of your house and the wad of cash in your pocket. Hardest working lady and the definition of a matriarch… we love you so much gramma.

Catherine :  My grandma gave her unconditional love in subtle ways.  Her hands were rough and tough from a lifetime of labor, and as a kid laying in the front seat of her truck as she drove around the farm, her scratchy hand comforting me as she rubbed my back.  The last bit of time I spent with  my gramma she asked me to hold her hand and she leaned her head on my shoulder as we sat on her couch.  I'm glad I could comfort her with the same unconditional love that she gave me.
