Brian John Brogan, a life-long area resident, passed away peacefully in his home on November 1, 2022.

Born in the Bronx, New York on March 16, 1983, to John and Laurie Brogan, Brian grew up in Poughkeepsie, NY and went to college at SUNY Potsdam, where he earned a degree in English, concentrating on creative writing. He spent his career as a member of the International Union of Bricklayers and Allied Craftworkers.

Brian was a talented musician and writer, someone who could truly express himself musically in his own unique and original way. He always had a guitar in his hands, and he loved to share his music with family and friends. His passion will continue to inspire and influence those who knew him.

Not only was Brian a musician, but he was a writer as well. Fantasy was his favorite genre, to both read and write. A true bookworm, he was always able to recommend an author or series to those who were looking for a new adventure to escape into.

Brian will also be remembered for his amazing, sarcastic sense of humor and his odd penchant for winning scratch off lotto tickets. One of Brian's defining characteristics was his ability to easily find humor in even the most difficult of situations. Brian's intelligence, wit, and humor will be greatly missed.

Brian is survived by his son, Austin Servay , his mother, Laurie Brogan, his father, John Brogan and partner, Arlene Sabo. He is also survived by his siblings, Kevin and Arlene, his nephew Zachary Wiznitzer and his brother-in-law, Seth Wiznitzer. He is also survived by too many aunts, uncles, and cousins to name. He was loved by all.

The funeral will be a private ceremony at the Parmele, Auchmoody & Schoonmaker Funeral Home located at 110 Fulton Ave., Poughkeepsie NY. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made in Brian's memory to: Single Purpose Sober House, 291 Mill St., Poughkeepsie, NY 12603, Thesinglepurpose.org
