Beverly Margaret Rollins  a loving mother, grand-mother and great-grandmother died peacefully August 10 at home. Her devoted husband for 71 years was by her side.

She was a longtime resident of Millbrook NY.

She was born in Newport Vermont on November 8, 1928, to Martin Charles Perry and Vera Irene (Vinton) Perry.

Most of her early years were spent in Coventry Vermont on the family dairy farm. She excelled at school and was voted the 'Cutest' and 'Most Athletic' in her graduating class. Her achievements on the basketball court were well know. Beverly always considered herself a Vermonter and often yearned to return.

Beverly is survived by her husband Leslie James Rollins and sons Perry Martin Rollins and wife Jeannette from West Copake NY, Randy Allan Rollins and wife Ginny from Baltimore Md, Matthew Ameade Rollins, and wife Erin from Millbrook NY. She was pre-deceased in 2017 by her son James Lorand Rollins from Millbrook NY.   She also loved and adored her numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Beverly obtained her beautician certificate but found it more lucrative to waitress at Lake Memphremagog in VT.

Her waitressing skills enabled her to travel with a friend first to Florida and eventually Cuba. Something quite unusual for young women at that time.

She met Leslie at a local dance after his stint in the Navy and they were married November 10, 1950.

Taking advantage of the GI bill they lived in married student housing at the University of Vermont where their first son was born. Three more sons followed within the next four years. Living in trailers and school housing she managed to raise the young family with very limited resources.

Moving several times in her husband's early career, living in apartments, and a basement while they built the house above them, they moved to Millbrook NY in 1963.

After a year in Michigan in 1967, they designed and built their 'forever' home on South Road in Millbrook. As was custom, a large picture window was installed on the roadside of the house so she could see everyone passing and be part of the neighborhood.

Beverly continued her athletic ways and excelled at bowling, golf, and tennis. She worked for the census bureau periodically and delivered food for 'Meals on Wheels' for several years. Mostly she was known as a fierce protector and nurturer of her kids. Most weeks she would be seen in the grocery store pushing and pulling two carts stacked with food to feed her growing boys. She had a Vermont frugality, stubbornness, and resilience about her.

A loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, she will be greatly missed, her family as proud of her as she always was of them.

The family would like to especially thank Margaret Razmadze for her many years of personal care for Beverly, the entire staff at the Fountains in Millbrook and Hospice for their gentle and kind touch in the final weeks.
