Betty Jane Simpson-Contillo "Betty Boop", passed away May 28, 2018, at the age of 76, at home in Florida with her family by her side, after a short battle with cancer. Born to the late Frank and Gladys Hopkins-Simpson on December 4, 1941. One of nine children they were natives of Poughkeepsie. Granddaughter of the late Ezra and Margaret Kessler-Simpson of Highland and of the late Garfield and Mae Lutz-Hopkins of Hyde Park, NY. "Betty Boop" married the late Robert Werth in 1960. Although they didn't stay together, they remained friends. She then met the late Joseph Contillo in 1992 they moved to Florida in 2010 after he retired from Verizon. They married in November 2015, he passed away in February 2017 after a long battle of cancer. She is survived by 3 sons, Scott Werth and his fiancé, Angela of Poughkeepsie, Ben Simpson and his fiancé, Debbie of Staatsburg and Thomas McNulty of Florida; 4 grandchildren; her best friend Kristin and her husband, Ben Plain of Florida, Tyler Emmett of Poughkeepsie, Scott and Dylan Werth of Poughkeepsie; 3 great grandchildren, Ben, Maddox and Kinslee Plain of Florida, whom will truly miss her. She is survived by a sister Virginia Perry of Poughkeepsie and a brother Howard Simpson of Albany; many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews; goddaughter and niece Diane Perry Funk of Hyde Park. She was predeceased by 4 brothers, Victor Ike Simpson of Hudson, Vincent Simpson of Hudson, Frank Simpson of Florida and Joseph Simpson of Hudson; 2 sisters, Violet Smith of Poughkeepsie and Mary Simpson of Hudson.

Services will be held on Friday, June 22, 2018 from 11 to 1 PM at Parmele, Auchmoody & Schoonmaker Funeral Home, 110 Fulton Ave., Poughkeepsie, NY 12603. Burial will follow at Poughkeepsie Rural Cemetery. Services will be held by Rev. Father Thomas M. Lutz. A special thanks to the Hospice Nurses-from the family.
