Obituary

Benjamin "Ben" David Sargent-Brown, a lifelong resident of Millbrook, NY passed away on Friday, September 30, 2016. Ben was born March 25, 1990 in Bennington, VT to Gerry and Kelly Sargent, also lifelong residents of Millbrook, NY. Ben, a graduate of Millbrook High School, was an excavator for his father's business, Gerry Sargent Excavating, Inc. Those who knew him well knew how passionate he was about the business and his work. He loved working with machinery and the earth, which began for him at the age of six. He built roads and gravel pits in the driveway with Tonka trucks and toy excavators prior to graduating onto the real machinery. At his first show and tell for school, Ben's dad Gerry brought a real excavator over for Ben to "show". Not only did he show and tell about it, he unloaded it off the trailer. Ben also dug a pond in Millbrook in his very early years that was named after him – Ben's Pond. He was a truly talented young man who never hesitated to get to know someone and make time to chat. He also loved fishing with his predeceased friend Pat Lahey, snowmobiling and football. His favorite team was the Green Bay Packers. Ben enjoyed teaching his brother Dylan many things, including the proper use of a shovel.
In addition to his parents, Ben is survived by his brothers, Dylan Sargent-Brown, William (Delilah) Sargent; sister Sharon (Patrick) Zampko; nephew Jacob Zampko; niece Lia Zampko; grandparents, Fay and David Emmanuel, Carl Brown and Marjorie Sargent; several wonderful aunts and uncles; his Godfather, Willie Murphy; 19 great cousins; his girlfriend Brittany Fierravante who was the love of his life and his beloved dog, Bosco. He was predeceased by his grandfather Bartlett Sargent. We love you Ben!
