Obituary

Beatrice (Bea) Davis passed away on January 18, 2023 surrounded by her family in Atlanta, Georgia.  She was born in Brooklyn, New York on March 7, 1927 and graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School.  She married Sidney Davis in 1951 and they had a 59 year long adventure filled marriage.  She was a High School teacher's aide in Queens, New York.  She was also a Cub Scout Den Mother and active in community life.  In 1971, they moved to Poughkeepsie, New York where she lived for almost 50 years. Bea went to work at the Tax Assessors Office in the Town of Poughkeepsie and then at the Finance Department for Dutchess, County, NY.  She retired in 1990 to travel and enjoy life.  Bea and Sid traveled to England, around Europe, Israel, and Greece, took cruises, and were active in the Poughkeepsie community and Schomre Israel Synagogue.  Bea loved crafting and being with people.  She was involved in the Town of Poughkeepsie Senior Center, where she took many classes and was a longtime volunteer. She was an Election Inspector for the Town of Poughkeepsie for 25 years, a member of Brandeis Women, and the Red Hat Society. Bea moved to Atlanta in 2020 to be near her daughter and immediately became active as an Ambassador at Parc at Piedmont Independent Living.  Bea is survived by daughter, Madeline (David) Rothbard and son, Stuart (Bunny) Davis; four grandchildren, Adina (Scott) Bradshaw, Stacey (Jeffrey) Sprock, Jonathan Rothbard,  Cathryn Nichols; and Amber Banks;  great grandson Evan Bradshaw and numerous nieces and nephews, and great nieces and  great nephews. Bea's funeral will take place in Poughkeepsie NY on Sunday, January 22. Shiva will be observed in Atlanta, Georgia.
