Barbara H. Williams, Pleasant Valley, peacefully left this world on Thursday, November 4, 2021 surrounded by her loving family. Barbara was born May 28, 1942 at Vassar Brothers Hospital in Poughkeepsie, NY, the daughter of John Halvorsen and Caroline Campbell Halvorsen. Raised in Clinton Corners, NY Barbara attended Millbrook Central School at the Thorne Building in Millbrook graduating in June 1961. Barbara joined the Women's Army Corps following graduation and underwent basic training at Fort McClellan, AL. Stationed at Fort Sam Houston, TX, Private Barbara Halvorsen met and then married Private Carlton L. Williams, Jr., on December 15, 1961 beginning 21 years as a supportive and dedicated wife to an active-duty solider moving her family over 10 times within the US and abroad.  Barbara was Honorably discharged from the Women's Army Corps on September 5, 1962. On April 1, 1963, Barbara gave birth to daughter Debbie Wright, (Tim Wright), Millbrook, beginning her life as a loving and fiercely protective mother. After a tour to Germany, Barbara and Carlton returned to Fort Campbell, KY where Barbara gave birth to daughter Penny Williams, (Marc Pfeifer), Poughkeepsie. After Carlton's retirement in 1979, they returned to Dutchess County. Carlton left this world on November 26, 2011. Barbara began the next step of her life getting involved with local seniors groups and making lots of new friends. In addition to Debbie and Penny, Barbara is survived by granddaughter, Meghan Lane, Millbrook; grandson, Charlie Van de Bogart, Jr. Verbank; brother, John Halvorsen, II, (Rosanne), Millbrook; nieces Ashley and Caitlyn Halvorsen; nephew Evan Halvorsen; cousin Donald Halvorsen. Services will be graveside with military honors at 11 am on Friday, November 12, 2021 at Poughkeepsie Rural Cemetery.
