Barbara W. Rhodes, 98, of the Town of LaGrange, passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, January 19, 2023. She was born on May 22, 1924 in Harrington Park, NJ to the late Charles P.A. and Agnes C. (Bushell) Williams. On October 19, 1946 Barbara married William H. Rhodes Jr. in Norwood, NJ. Mr. Rhodes passed on November 21, 2003.
Mrs. Rhodes was a graduate of Tenifly High School and a 1945 graduate of Guilford College, NC. She was a clerk for the War Department from 1945 to 1946. She later became a homemaker taking care of her family. She was very active with local charities: including serving on the founding committee of the LaGrange Fire District Ladies Auxiliary and answering the Fire Phone in her home during the early days of the Southwest LaGrange Fire Company; Delivering for Meals on Wheels in Poughkeepsie; and with Christ Episcopal Church. She was also a member of the Mid Hudson Bridge Club in Poughkeepsie and an avid golfer.
Mrs. Rhodes is survived by, her two sons, William H. Rhodes III and his wife, Sheila of LaBelle, FL; Charles D. Rhodes of Poughkeepsie; son in law, Thomas Ventre of Gansevoort, NY; grandchildren, Kristen (Craig) Pollock, Andrew Ventre and Michael Huber; great-granddaughters, Amy, Lily, and Lexi Huber and three great-great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband and daughter, Barbara Ventre.
Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, February 2, 2023, at 11:30 am from Christ Episcopal Church, 22 Carroll St., Poughkeepsie with Inurnment to follow in the church's Columbarium.
