Anthony (Tony) Risimini, 100, of Pleasant Valley, NY, passed away Saturday, November 18, 2017 at Renaissance Rehabilitation, Staatsburg, NY. Born on July 13, 1917, in Pisticci, Italy, he was the son of Salvatore and Theresa Malvasi Risimini.

In 1942, Tony married Grace Barbarnaldo and they raised their son Salvatore Risimini. Grace passed away on July 10, 1983.  Tony added to the family he had when he married Rose Perry on April 12, 1986 and became step-father to her sons, James and Richard and brother-in-law to 22 siblings and in-laws.

Tony came to America in 1934 and began work as a barber.  He enlisted in the US Army and after being honorably discharged in June of 1942 he became a Naturalized Citizen in September of that same year.

Mr. Risimini then began work as a deck-hand on a tugboat and soon found he would rather be in charge than taking orders.  He studied for and passed the exam to become a tugboat captain on the Hudson River in Manhattan; an amazing feat in its own right as English was his second language.  He retired as the Captain of the tugboat John White in 1977; the same year the John White was retired.  After retiring, Tony and Grace moved to Union Vale, NY where he was a life member of the Union Vale Fire Department.

Left to mourn his loss are his wife Rose; son, Sal (Janice) Risimini and step-sons Jimmy Perry and Rich (Toni Ann) Perry; grandchildren, Laura Grace Risimini and her fiancé Sean Fredricks, John Anthony Risimini, Cheryl (Dave) Wornell, Jamie (Jon) Sanchez, Louis (Brittany) Perry, Nicole (Rick) Shaw, Dina Perry and Rocky Perry; great-grandchildren Branden and Julia Wornell, Louis and Alice Perry and Ricky Shaw.  Also surviving are many brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law and nieces and nephews.

Along with his first wife Grace and parents, Tony was pre-deceased by his sisters Anna Martino and Maria Lorusso and nieces Cesaria Soccoa and Theresa Lorusso.

The family would like to thank Dr. Ritter and the staff at Renaissance Rehabilitation for the care he was given and compassion he was shown.  Tony lived a long life and told everyone he had a contract to live to be 99.  As with many things he accomplished, he exceeded his goal.

Calling hours will be Tuesday, November 21st from 4:00 pm to 7:00pm at Allen Funeral Home, 1605 Main Street, Pleasant Valley, NY. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered Wednesday, November 22 at 10:00am from St. Joseph's Church, Millbrook, NY. Interment will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Millbrook.
