Andrew Peter Doro ("Andy") passed away on April 11, 2024, his 42nd wedding anniversary, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on April 1,1945 in the Bronx, New York to the late Andrew Doro and Anna (née Hornacek) Doro. Andy was a beloved husband, cherished father, extraordinary grandfather, loving brother, uncle, friend, and fearless leader. Above all, he was a devout Catholic, whose faith guided him throughout life's challenges.

Andy's life was marked by his courageous service to his country as a First Lieutenant in the U.S. Army. Beginning his military career in 1965, he served as an Executive Officer of Basic Training at Fort Ord in California before being deployed to Vietnam in 1967. In Vietnam, Andy served as a platoon leader responsible for combat, pacification, and intelligence operations. Andy saw significant action and was seriously wounded during battle, but fearlessly exposed himself in close combat to get his men to safety. Andy ultimately spent over a year and a half in an Army hospital recovering, a period that ultimately led to a 100% disability. This time underscored his unwavering dedication and courage to both his country and fellow soldiers, further exemplifying his selflessness and resilience.

For his brave actions, Andy was the recipient of many citations including the Silver Star, Purple Heart, Combat Infantryman Badge (CIB), National Defense Service Medal, Good Conduct Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Overseas Service Bar, and Marksmanship Medals. His exemplary service continued to inspire both Veterans and civilians alike throughout his lifetime.

Following his honorable discharge from the military, Andy returned to school earning advanced master's degrees in management, education, and psychology from St. John's University. He dedicated himself to the field of education, working in various capacities across numerous school districts including but not limited to Psychologist, Vice Principal, Director Pupil Personnel Services, Chairperson of Committee Special Education (CSE), Chairperson for the Conference Committee, Executive Director of Special Education managing teachers, paraprofessionals, nurses, tutors, occupational & physical therapists, speech therapists, social workers, and psychologists. He also served on the Board of Directors for a Veteran Outreach Center and worked as a crisis intervention group counselor for veterans with PTSD.

After his tenure in education, Andy was the proud founder and CEO of Millbrook Support Services, Inc. with office locations in Millbrook, NY, Manhasset, NY, and Gilbert, AZ. Incorporated in 2003, Millbrook is a Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Business (SDVOSB) and Joint Commission Certified Healthcare Staffing Company – supplying physicians, nurses, allied health, and advanced practice providers to government, educational, corrections, and commercial organizations across the country. Under Andy's leadership, Millbrook became the fastest-growing healthcare staffing company in the U.S. and is now ranked the #2 SDVOSB by GovWin Deltek.

Beyond Andy's steadfast commitment to service and life accomplishments, he had a passion for many hobbies and interests that brought him joy throughout his life. Andy was an avid racquetball player, enjoying team camaraderie and competition on the court – whether that be with his friends at Gold's Gym in Poughkeepsie or at LA Fitness in New Hyde Park. Andy was an active member in his community, proudly serving on the Village of Millbrook's Zoning Board of Appeals for many years. He was also a devoted longtime member of both the American Legion in Stanfordville, NY and the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) in Millbrook, NY. Additionally, Andy was a longstanding member of the Millbrook Rod & Gun Club, where he formed deep friendships and cherished his time spent volunteering. Andy had a love for good food and exquisite wine, always looking forward to the next memorable meal with his loved ones. Andy was also an avid winemaker himself, personally crafting wines that earned him several awards and recognition throughout the years. Andy's warm and welcoming nature endeared him to everyone he met, making friends wherever he went.

Andy is survived by his devoted wife of 42 years, Katherine (née Manzi) Doro, son Peter Felice Manzi Doro (wife Jennifer), grandchildren John Felice Manzi Doro and James Peter Manzi Doro; sisters Mary Ann Pugliese (husband William), Diane Hayes, Alice Doro; numerous nieces and nephews, and countless friends. He is now reunited with his brother John P. Doro, his parents, and his fallen Army brothers.

A wake will be held on Monday, April 15 from 4-7pm at Allen Funeral Home in Millbrook, NY (3270 Franklin Avenue), with VFW services to follow. The funeral mass will take place on Tuesday, April 16 at 12pm at St. Joseph, Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Millbrook (15 North Avenue).

Andy's memory will forever be cherished by those who knew and loved him. We will always salute you, remember you, and honor you. Rest in peace, Andy.
