An Van Tran, 92 of Poughkeepsie passed away suddenly as a result of an accident in Hyde Park on Tuesday, June 25, 2019. Born in the Provence of Kandal, Cambodia on December 31, 1926, he was the son of the late Bo Van Tran and Ne Thi Mai . Mr. Tran was a self - employed carpenter for many years. He was married to Qui Thi Nguyen who survives at home. He loved his family and enjoyed taking care of many others. He also enjoyed gardening and fishing in the Hudson River. In addition to his wife Qui, he is survived by his 7 children; Anh Van Tran, Chieu Van Tran, Philip Tran, Vien Bt Tran, Ai Van Tran, Thang Viet Tran and Trong Binh Tran; and his sister, Het Thi Tran. Also surviving are many grandchildren, great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a sister Tren Thi Tran. Visitation will be held on Thursday, June 27 from 7-9 pm at Parmele, Auchmoody and Schoonmaker Funeral Home, 110 Fulton Ave., Poughkeepsie. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Friday, June 28 at 10 am from St. Mary's Church, 231 Church St., Poughkeepsie. Cremation will follow in Poughkeepsie Rural Cemetery.
