Albert Louis Maher Jr. "Al", of Poughkeepsie, New York, passed away peacefully in his home on April 8, 2022, surrounded by his family. Al was born exactly 94 years earlier on April 8, 1928, to Albert Louis Maher Sr. and Anna Wilhelmina Droge Maher in Flushing, New York.  Al's early years were spent in Flushing, New York. Later his family moved to Richmondville, New York. He joined the Army and served from Sept. 1946 till Sept. 1949 including time in South Korea. He joined General Electric's apprentice program in Schenectady, NY after leaving the army. Albert married Ruth Edla Williams of Poughkeepsie, New York on November 20, 1954. They relocated to Poughkeepsie when Al started work as a Tool Maker at IBM. Al spent his career at IBM, retiring in 1990.
Al is survived by his wife Ruth Edla Williams Maher, daughter Cynthia Ann Maher Beale, son Scott Alan Maher with wife Elizabeth, son Christopher Albert Maher, and son Craig Andrew Maher. Al has four grandchildren, Kathryn with husband Scott Passierb, Laura with husband Samuel Dolan, Alyse, and Cassandra. Al has two great grandchildren, Liam and Cash Dolan.
Al is predeceased by his parents, his twin brothers Harmon and Howland, his half-bother Willis, and his half-sisters Meta and Alice.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 13, starting at 10:30 am, at the Parmele, Auchmoody & Schoonmaker  Funeral Home, 110 Fulton Ave, Poughkeepsie, NY. The funeral service will be from 12-12:30 pm. Interment will follow at the Poughkeepsie Rural Cemetery.
