William Ronald Goggins (Ronnie) a resident of River Valley Care Center in Poughkeepsie since 2002, was called home September 18, 2011 at Vassar Brothers Hospital. He was born May 23, 1935 and was the son of the late Joseph and Marion Thompson Goggins. He was born and raised in Stormville, NY and attended the Wappingers Central School System.
Ronnie was employed in food service for 28 years with the Harlem Valley Hospital. He loved sports, especially the NY Mets, sports and politics and he had an unconditional love for his family. He also liked to keep abreast of the latest local and national news. He was a member of the Mount Zion Baptist Church, Green Haven, NY and served on Mt. Zions Usher Board under the leadership of the late Gladys Ruffin.
Ronnie is survived by his sister, Rose Colden of Stormville; sister-in-law, Ruth Goggins of Hamden, CT; nieces and nephew, Fred and Vivian Colden of Danbury, CT, Robin and Karen Colden of Palm Bay, FL, Jody Kelly of New Haven, CT, Valerie Thurman of Middletown, Reva Goggins of New Haven, CT, and Bonnie and David Hart of North Carolina; several great nieces and nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his brothers, Francis (Pete) Goggins, Eugene Goggins and Joseph (Butch) Goggins.
A Memorial Service to celebrate his life will be held on Saturday, September 24th from 11 1 pm at the Mount Zion Baptist Church, Green Haven, NY with Rev. Thomas Coleman Delivering the eulogy.
